Louie Mayer. We all learned a bit of German from Louie over 4 years, "Schlaffen sie gut?", "Schwabbenheimer!", and, the one we remember best, "Hast du gelt?"

With Lena. Slightly out of focus (Louie took the picture?) but you can still see my receeding hairline.

When we found out that Lena was born in 1898, we were amazed at how ancient she was. But we are now 10 years older than she was when we first arrived at 47 Dewey Ave.

The view from one of the wicker chairs on the porch. I remember sitting here on the first day I moved in, before Victor and Jim arrived, and realizing that I was now free to eat or drink anything I liked. So I hopped in the car, drove down to the supermarket, and 15 minutes later I was back on the porch with a can of Bud in one hand, and a Hostess Chocolate Creme Filled Cupcake in the other.

But I wasn't alone for long. Victor and Jim arrived the same weekend, and we went down to the Sound for a swim. We ended up climbing onto some of the boats that were docked there. Lucky we didn't get shot, but that was in the days before open-carry and 'stand your ground'.

Out back with Louie & Lena.

It was just a short walk down Dewey to the hole in the fence where we entered the campus. We passed by Iona Prep on the right, and the Gym on the left, to get to class each day.
